Anxiety is a unpleasant and uneasy feeling that breeds worry and uncertainty. It symptomatically presents physically by increasing heart rate, rapid breathing, excessive sweating, and headaches. Mentally it produces irritability, difficultly concentrating , and even extreme fatigue. Although anxiety can be illicited by positive experiences, like a wedding or birth of a child it's often associated with negative things that occur like death, demise of a relationship, or even job insecurity. Though anxiety is unavoidable it's important to understand that there are ways to combat it, handle it, and quite simply "PUT IT ON NOTICE THAT DESTROYING YOUR LIFE IS NOT AN OPTION".
There are clinically sound things that have been proven to mitigate the symptoms of anxiety like meditation, physical exercise, relaxation, and other stress management strategies, including medication. Practicing these things as well as therapy, if needed, will promote personal wellness.
Everything mentioned above is an important part of combating anxiety. However, it is equally important to understand the "Root Cause" ( I must give credit of
this phrase to Shawn B) When avoidance of anxiety is available you need to equip yourself with the tools to accomplish it. Every carpenter collects and protects his best tools so he/she can be proficient in his/her craft. What tools do you need? Can you take a moment to reframe, redefine, and refute anything that is not healthy for you?
It's your time to take control of things that are causing anxiety in your life. Time that you understand you are the pilot of your destiny. Time that you battle for sanity and make necessary changes that promote you. Remembering always that there are options in everything. Choose wisely and reroute when appropriate. Anxiety can only hold you if you allow it to.
