One thing that’s common among us all is that as children we role played, had dreams, and created future visions without accepting defeat. The innocence of those childhood dreams made us feel empowered, born for success, and unable to fail. What happens to that confidence as we grow older?
The beautiful thing about a child is they aren’t scared of risks, believe they can do absolutely anything, and they aren’t compromised by others negative influences. A child hasn’t experienced disappointment and are motivated to do things highly independently. As we raise children, we make efforts to protect them but often do so to a fault. We add fear, lack of confidence, and encourage conformity. I understand that we have to do certain things for safety but wonder if it’s not so strict that we create self doubt, discourage individual purpose, and ultimately strangle the dreams they are purposed for.
Reflection is a positive thing and allows us to have an opportunity to reinvent. I’ve been reflecting and rediscovering that little girl with dreams and goals for several years now and it’s the most amazing feeling in the world. Not apologizing or conforming to someone else’s decisions for me and holding myself accountable for what I desire and deserve has been liberating.
Take a moment today to gain back the beautiful qualities you were born with prior to the world’s expectations and the conformities. Live out loud unapologetically because you were created for more. Challenge yourself to live in I AM ENOUGH because you most definitely are!
