FOR THE LOVE OF IT ALL

The weekend we celebrate LOVE is here!❤️ Valentine‘s Day is a specific day where we are encouraged,commanded by social pressures,and conditioned to express love in a commercial way. The question I pose today is, “ Is this an adequate demonstration of LOVE?”

Now, don’t get me wrong! I love gifts. I love to watch couples find ingenious ways to surprise their significant other. I love to celebrate my own loved ones in or around February 14. The question poses for a deeper dive into what occurs the other 364 days of the year.

Im exploring and journeying through a new relationship right now. 😁😁He and I discussed V-Day and the implications associated with it. He(I call him A.H.) said, “Babe, how do you feel about Valentines Day? I’ll be honest, I’m not big into the commercial ideas of it. I want to show you I love you everyday.I understand all women like the idea of being celebrated at work by flower deliveries,etc but I’m not that guy. ”

Although, as I’ve stated, I believe that LOVE deserves to be shown daily and one day cannot be deduced to what celebrating LOVE means. I had to check myself in the moment. I realized that in my past relationships that I DID expect something for Valentine’s Day. I needed it because the appreciation,love,and real relationship was absent. I hung on for February 14th as a day where I knew I’d be “loved” even if it was FAKE LOVE( Yea Drake…MeToo). You see previously I‘d allowed the people I connected with to not only give me substandard commitment but also to impact my worth. I let the 364 days with them to be a hellish endurance while holding out for a sad 24 hours of gifts, maybe dinner, and borrowed romance. My response to him was surprising; I’m sure. My response to AH was, “Babe, that’s the most empowering romantic thing ANYONE has ever said to me”. Nice to know we are on the same page.

We have plans to meet and have a very unique and organic weekend but not because it’s Valentines but because we are exploring the journey of LOVE everyday. We decided we would chronicle our Love Journey on FB. This is our gift to each other.

I caution everyone to examine your why‘s in EVERYTHING. Examine who you connect with. I celebrate ❤️ with you on this weekend and the longevity of your ❤️.
