TIME BLOCKING- A GREAT NEW TREND

I blogged last week and included the term "Time Blocking". Maybe some of you have researched this topic but I wanted to speak about it a bit more and explain this tool for productivity and ultimate wellness.

I have not only used the ideal of writing down my schedule and following it for double digit years but also have been a huge advocate for others to try this. I will be honest and say that I would have never anticipating that "Time Blocking" would become a new Tik Tok initiative in 2022. I have assisted others with the organization of this concept for years and have seen the extreme positive change in productivity and mindful wellness. So lets just talk about a few organizational ideas and benefits to "Time Blocking".


We cannot deny that this world has challenged us by all kinds of distractions. Even those things that are technical advancements may become areas that steal time from something that would improve us reaching our goals. Think about how much time you spend on social media. Maybe you are looking at inspirational people but does the time you spend there reduce the opportunity to actually put to use what they have said? Maybe you are having difficulty with prioritizing roles in your life and find that by the end of a day you feel unaccomplished. The lack of peoples control in schedule has left many less fulfilled and have increased anxiety, decreased goal productivity, and diminished the quality of life.


Time blocking is an awesome tool that allows you to make the most of your time and is an opportunity to take full control of your wellness. The idea is to plan each moment in advance and dedicate specific "blocks of time" for them. This may seem a bit obsessive and something that may cause greater chaos but instead it actually creates safe spaces that render your time as valuable. It is empowering and can make ALL the difference in your life. Below are a few tips that can assist with creating an individualized Time Blocking Schedule.

  1. Set your priorities by beginning with those of HIGH priority.

  2. Create scheduled time that starts and ends with time dedicated to you.

  3. Include varied tasks from deep focused items to small less items such as email, social media.

  4. Assign blocks for items that have previously been dictators of your day. This could be answering emails or accepting impromptu meetings based on others schedules.

  5. Plan in resting and cater to YOUR individual needs.

  6. Create a templet and fill it out the night before. Individualize your time according to your needs.

  7. Restart if you are not successful one day. * Don't throw the pot out with the water.


Remember that like with any other change or attempt at something new; it will take practice. You may need to adjust things that better fit into your life and quest for productivity, goal reaching, and wellness. You are ENOUGH! You can do this no matter who you are. This would be helpful for everyone no matter what phase of life you are in.
